WATCH: Red card for diving! AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez sent off for embarrassing flop as Rossoneri crash out of Champions League to Feyenoord
WHAT HAPPENED?
Milan headed into the second leg of their tie at San Siro 1-0 down but got off to the perfect start when Santiago Gimenez netted in the first minute to level matters. However, their task was made harder in the second half when Hernandez saw red for simulation. The Frenchman had already been booked when he went flying in the penalty area and was handed a second yellow card and ordered from the pitch.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
The red card was to prove costly as Julian Carranza went on to score the winner for Feyenoord to put the Dutch side through and send the Rossoneri crashing out of the competition. The defeat continues a poor record in Europe’s premier club competition for Milan, who have only made it to the last 16 of the Champions League once in the past decade.

WHAT NEXT
The early exit from the Champions League will be a hammer blow to Milan, particularly as the Rossoneri are also struggling in Serie A and sit down in seventh place in the standings. Feyenoord can celebrate a famous win and will now look forward to a last 16 clash against either Arsenal or Inter.
