THE BIGGER PICTURE

In recent months, several reports have surfaced suggesting that Saudi Arabia is eager to entice Real Madrid’s No.7 to the Middle East with an offer to make him the most expensive player in the world.

Vini, who is tied to Los Blancos till 2027 and is yet to hold formal talks over a renewal, made his stance clear earlier this month amid all the rumours. “It’s very exciting to have conversations with Real Madrid about my renewal,” Vini told TNT Sports Brasil.

“I have a contract until 2027, but I’ve always said that I want to continue playing here after so much time and making history. I’ve received the affection of the fans, the president, the coaching staff, all the players. My wish is to be here longer and God willing, in the next few days all the negotiations will be resolved to spend much more time here.”

WHAT CASEMIRO SAID

“If I were speaking to him as a fan, I would tell him to look at how important it is to make history in football, in his career,” Casemiro told AS in an exclusive interview.

“He has already made it so far, but at his age he has a long way to go to continue making it. But it is a very personal decision. As a fan, the best thing would be to continue seeing him with Real Madrid.”

WHAT NEXT FOR VINI JR.?

Vini’s start to 2025 hasn’t been terrific, given that he has had to deal with injury issues and suspensions, preventing him from getting into rhythm. However, he produced a man of the match performance against Manchester City at the Etihad last week, and he will be hoping to build on that performance as Carlo Ancelotti and Co. will be determined to end the season with major silverware.
