Popular NFL quarterback who saved team in desperate need brutally cut after rookie rival has impressive preseason

Tommy DeVito, affectionately referred to as Tommy Cutlets, did not make the Giants’ final roster this season.

With four quarterbacks on the Giants’ roster during the preseason, DeVito found himself as the odd man out.

According to the New York Post, DeVito is expected to draw interest from other teams.

If he is claimed off of waivers by noon on Wednesday, the team that picks him up must keep him for the first three weeks of the regular season.

However, if DeVito clears waivers, he can either return to the Giants’ practice squad or join a new team.

DeVito quickly rose to fame during the 2022 season, when he started six games in relief of Daniel Jones.

In those six games, he played to a 3-3 record, passing for 1,101 yards with eight touchdowns and just three interceptions.

DeVito also ran for 195 yards and a touchdown during the 2023 season.

He started two more games in the 2024 season, but only managed 257 yards and no touchdowns.

DeVito lost both of the games that he started.

Fans were devastated to hear that DeVito was waived by the Giants, and shared their thoughts on social media.

“His linsantiy run of 1 game will always be remembered,” one fan said.

“And suddenly my heart is broken,” another fan said.

“Jets acquiring?” a third fan said.

“He’s gonna be a great player, I just can’t prove it yet,” a fourth fan said.

“Tommy Cutlets will forever be a New York Giant legend,” a fifth fan said.

Following the end of the 2024 season, DeVito was the only quarterback left on the Giants’ roster.

However, the team signed both Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, and drafted Jaxson Dart.

Most teams take a maximum of three quarterbacks into the season, and the Giants stuck with that norm.
