Rachel Recchia reveals that her split from Clayton Echard was primarily due to their incompatible lifestyles, with Clayton’s desire for an active partner clashing with her more laid-back approach, leaving her frustrated by his vague comments and the speculation surrounding their breakup.

In a revealing episode of the What’s the Reality podcast, Rachel Recchia opened up about the real reason behind her split from Clayton Echard, shedding light on the elusive comments he made during his appearance on The Viall Files.
The tension surrounding their breakup has intrigued fans ever since the couple’s second attempt at romance on Netflix’s Perfect Match, and now Rachel is ready to set the record straight.
Rachel, 29, and Clayton, 32, first crossed paths during Clayton’s season of The Bachelor in 2022. Although Clayton ultimately chose Susie Evans as his final rose recipient, the two exes reunited for a second chance on Perfect Match.
However, just 24 hours into their match, Clayton abruptly ended things, citing a gut feeling that they wouldn’t work out. His vague reasoning left many wondering what truly led to their breakup.
During the podcast episode set to air on August 13, Rachel expressed her frustration with Clayton’s cryptic comments.
“I was like, why are you making people speculate like this? This is more evil than just saying what it is,” she said.
Rachel felt that Clayton’s lack of clarity only fueled rumors and misconceptions about her character, leaving fans to wonder if there were hidden issues behind closed doors.

The heart of the matter, Rachel revealed, was a significant lifestyle difference. Clayton’s desire for a partner who embraces an active lifestyle clashed with Rachel’s more laid-back approach to fitness.
“He wants someone that lives a very active lifestyle and goes to the gym and hits the weights, and it’s not me. It’s never gonna be me,” Rachel stated emphatically.
She prefers activities like traveling, shopping, and enjoying leisurely outings, which she humorously referred to as her “hot girl walks.”
Clayton’s insistence on a partner who shares his fitness enthusiasm became a dealbreaker for him. Rachel explained that during the podcast, he mentioned that her exercise habits were a primary reason for their incompatibility.
“He wants to clarify, though — and I will give him this — it’s not that he thinks I have a bad body. It’s just that my lifestyle of not liking to hike or go to the gym is not compatible with him,” she shared.
Rachel quipped that to date Clayton, one might need an Equinox gym membership.

Despite understanding Clayton’s perspective, Rachel was still bothered by how he articulated his reasoning on The Viall Files.
“I’m like, Clayton, it would be so much nicer if you just said, ‘I don’t like her, I’m not attracted to her,’” she remarked, highlighting her frustration with his ambiguous phrasing.
She felt that if Clayton had been more straightforward, it would have spared both of them unnecessary speculation.
Rachel also defended her own fitness routine, asserting that she is active but doesn’t engage in the kind of workouts Clayton prefers.
“If it was a lifestyle thing where I was genuinely lazy, I don’t even know how to explain it. I’m like, Clayton, I do exercise,” she emphasized.
This discrepancy in their values and interests seemed to underscore a deeper incompatibility in their relationship.
Reflecting on their time together, Rachel pondered whether discussing their differing lifestyles earlier in their relationship could have altered the outcome.
“I don’t think we talked about that on The Bachelor, so maybe I wouldn’t have gotten this far if day one, I was like, ‘Oh, by the way, hot girl walks and yoga only – no dumbbells,’” she mused.

Clayton, in previous statements, has maintained that he never intended to hurt Rachel during their brief romance on Perfect Match.
He described his decision to end things as a feeling that struck him suddenly, one that he couldn’t ignore.
“When I woke up, my heart dropped, and I felt this pit in my stomach and I realized, ‘That wasn’t the right decision,’” he explained, adding that he felt it was better to end things decisively rather than prolong the inevitable.
As for what Clayton seeks in his next partner, he expressed a desire for someone who shares his growth mindset and can support each other’s dreams.
“I don’t want to be normal. I want to be abnormal in the best possible way, and I’m looking for someone that matches that energy,” he stated.
With Rachel’s candid revelations, fans are left to wonder if lifestyle choices truly were the crux of the issue, or if deeper feelings played a role in their split.
As the podcast episode approaches, anticipation builds around what other secrets might be unveiled about this tumultuous relationship.
