I said, ‘Hello’ and it’s that very recognizable, globally famous voice:

It’s Clint. He said something to the effect of ‘You gotta get the train back on the tracks. kid, You’re worth saving.’ It was really powerful.

I thanked him, gave the phone back to my dad and said, ‘All right, let’s go.’

The process was not smooth sailing.

He checked into rehab multiple times due to several issues, and this one from 1990 was the first one.

He went back in 1998, then in 2010, after confessing to the assault of his ex-wife.

He returned in 2011 following his feud with Chuck Lorre.

The famed director played a huge role in Sheen’s recovery, and Eastwood’s influence on the actor dates back to when they both starred in the 1990 movie, The Rookie.

The film was neither a huge critical nor a commercial hit at the time, but it allowed Eastwood to step into his first foray into the buddy cop genre. Years later, it became a cult-classic, but this wasn’t the only good thing that came out of the project.

They both exhibited onscreen chemistry, making it a rather fun action movie.

Their bond while working on The Rookie turned into an unforgettable memory, and this was why Eastwood’s words heavily impacted Sheen’s decision to enter rehab.
