Yellowstone bosses respond to claims show is ending with Kevin Costner set to leave

There are rumours going round that Yellowstone will be coming to an end

Bosses behind the hit TV show Yellowstone have responded to rumours that the series starring Kevin Costner is going to end.

While some shows certainly outstay their welcome and go on too long, it’s far worse to see a great show end while it still had plenty of gas left in the tank, and Yellowstone fans will be hoping they aren’t done yet.

There had been reports claiming that Yellowstone could come to an end as lead star Kevin Costner didn’t have much time for filming.

It had been claimed that the star had asked if he could film his scenes for the second half of Yellowstone‘s fifth season in the span of a week as he needed to spend time on Horizon, the film he has co-written and is both directing and starring in.

Paramount apparently rejected this request, but Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan has been rumoured to be working on a spin-off where some of Yellowstone‘s characters could continue in.

In response to the claims that the show could be coming to an end, a statement has been issued in the hopes of reassuring fans that they are not intending to shut up shop any time soon.

A Paramount Network spokesperson said: “We have no news to report.

Kevin Costner is a big part of Yellowstone and we hope that’s the case for a long time to come.

“Thanks to the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan, we are always working on franchise expansions of this incredible world he has built.”.

Bosses also gave an update on the possibility of another Yellowstone spin-off starring Matthew McConaughey, calling the actor a ‘phenomenal talent with whom we’d love to partner’.

It wouldn’t be the first Yellowstone spin-off starring famous Hollywood figures to get made, as a second season of 1923 starring Harrison Ford and Dame Helen Mirren has just commissioned.

The success of Yellowstone also produced spin-off series 1883 and the upcoming 6666, making the franchise something of an entertainment juggernaut which continues to pull in high ratings and critical acclaim.

According to Deadline, Yellowstone star Wes Bentley has said Sheridan already has a clear idea of how the show is going to end and has planned for the way the series will come to a close.

The actor gave no clear picture on how many more episodes or seasons it would take to wrap up the story of Montana rancher John Dutton, who became state governor in the fifth season.
