Robert Redford’s Grandkids Share Never-Before-Seen Family Photos After Actor’s De@th: ‘He Was Larger Than Life’

“Rest in peace, Grandpa.🐎,” Redford’s grandson Conor Schlosser wrote on Instagram, sharing a collection of sweet snapshots

Robert Redford’s grandkids are honoring him not only as an artist, but as a dedicated family man.

Following the news of the Oscar winner’s death at age 89 on Tuesday, Sept. 16, Redford’s grandson Conor Schlosser shared a series of photos to Instagram showing the two during his childhood, riding a horse together, playing golf and more.

More recent images featured Redford and Conor, 33, during the former’s later years, enjoying a meal together and Conor posing with his arm around his grandfather’s shoulders.

“He was larger than life to the world, but to his family, he was simply that … family,” Conor, who is the younger child of Redford’s daughter Shauna Redford and her husband Eric Schlosser, wrote in the caption. “Rest in peace, Grandpa.🐎”

He added, “If anyone has a favorite story of him you’d like to share, please send it to me in a private message — I’d love to collect them.”

Conor’s cousin Lena Hart Redford, whose parents are Redford’s late son James Redford and his wife Kyle Redford, also shared her own tribute to Instagram.

Alongside a single heart emoji, Lena, 29, shared glimpses of herself with Redford as a child, including a horse-riding photo, a snapshot on a movie set and a photo that included her dad with her and Redford, taken during what appeared to be Lena’s tween years.

Sharing one sweet image of her and her grandpa in Kangol-brand beanies when she was a child, Lena wrote on her Instagram Stories, “Taught me so much. … Had us all in Kangol.”

“Dad & grandpa,” she wrote alongside another image of Redford and James horseback riding, adding, “I feel like they are riding awesome horses in heaven.”

Redford was predeceased by his two sons: James, who died in 2020 at age 58 from bile-duct cancer in his liver, and Scott, who died of sudden infant death syndrome two months after his birth in 1959.

He is survived by wife Sibylle Szaggars Redford, daughters Shauna and Amy and seven grandchildren.
