Meet rising star Chase Infiniti, who’s in One Battle After Another with Leonardo DiCaprio

The 25-year-old’s name was inspired by Nicole Kidman and Toy Story, and she got her start opposite Jake Gyllenhaal in Presumed Innocent.

At only 25 years old, American actress Chase Infiniti has already worked alongside some of Hollywood’s biggest stars.

She made her debut in the Apple TV+ series Presumed Innocent alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Ruth Negga just last year, and now she’s set to make the leap to films.

She stars opposite Leonardo DiCaprio and Benicio Del Toro in director Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest action thriller One Battle After Another.

She’s named after iconic movie characters

Indianapolis native Chase Infiniti Payne was born in 2000 and perhaps she was always destined to be a Hollywood starlet.

She’s named after not one, but two iconic film characters: Dr Chase Meridian – played by Nicole Kidman in Batman Forever – and Toy Story’s Buzz Lightyear, known for his iconic catchphrase “to infinity and beyond”.

Perhaps Payne’s parents had an inkling of what their kids would grow up to become.

Her younger sister, who works in fashion, is aptly named Dolcé.

She’s always wanted to be a performer

In a 2024 interview with The Face, Payne revealed that she’d always wanted to be a performer and had spent her childhood dreaming of becoming a singer.

At her mum’s encouragement, she auditioned for a musical, calling it “the best decision I’ve ever made”.

Payne went on to graduate from a performance course from Columbia College Chicago in 2022 and almost immediately secured a manager.

Soon enough, she was auditioning and just seven months after graduating, she landed her first ever screen role in Presumably Innocent as Jake Gyllenhaal and Ruth Negga’s daughter.

Before securing her acting role, Payne had been a kickboxing instructor and part of a K-pop cover dance crew named Duple Dance Crew.

She learned karate for her role in One Battle After Another
