This time through his collaboration with Martin Scorsese in their upcoming movie, DiCaprio is seemingly hoping for something more than just critical acclaim.

According to reports, the Hollywood A-lister is in talks to star in The Devil in the White City, with Martin Scorsese in the running to helm the project.

If things go as planned, Leonardo DiCaprio might get to play the role of a notorious serial killer, unlike something he has ever played.

So it seems that this might be a great opportunity for the star to spread his wings.

After coming across Erik Larson’s 2004 bestselling book The Devil in the White City, Leonardo DiCaprio had reportedly become a fan of the story.

Realizing how the narrative about a cunning serial killer who’s believed to have murdered around 27 to 200 people in the 1800s, has resonated throughout the years, DiCaprio was said to have acquired the rights to the book in 2010.

Since then, the long-awaited film adaptation has gone through various stages of development while waiting for a production company to helm it.

Now finally, sources told Deadline about 20th Century’s decision to come onboard, after the studio executives’ meeting with DiCaprio.

Meanwhile, although there’s no script for the project, DiCaprio is said to be taking one step at a time.

After signing the production with 20th Century, Leonardo DiCaprio is said to be in talks to star in the film.

Perhaps set to play the titular role of the notorious serial killer, the actor might be aiming to show his range.

Meanwhile, there’s another good news for fans, as sources revealed that DiCaprio’s longtime collaborator Martin Scorsese is also in talks to direct the film.

It is believed that while Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese are set to reunite as producers for The Devil in the White City, they are also in talks to take on their respective roles as actor and director for the upcoming movie.

In that case, the duo’s reunion might lead to an Oscar win for DiCaprio, considering how we’ve yet to see the Titanic star helm such a notorious role.

Although Leonardo DiCaprio’s previous collaborations with Martin Scorsese in The Wolf of Wall Street and Killers of the Flower Moon failed to earn him an Academy Award, people are crossing their fingers on The Devil in the White City.

Given how the upcoming movie is set to tap into a never-seen-before side of DiCaprio, it is safe to assume that the actor will shoot for the stars.
