Johnny Depp, who came back on the big screen with Jeanne du Barry, spoke up about not needing Hollywood after the industry boycotted him in the light of his highly publicized defamation case with ex-wife Amber Heard.

At the news conference for the movie, the press waited eagerly for the actor only for him to show up 42 minutes late.

The press, already buzzing with questions, were quick to ask Depp if he felt boycotted by Hollywood when he was dropped from the Fantastic Beasts series, during his legal battle.

With a fervent speech, he replied,

“Of course, if you’re asked to resign from a film you’re doing because of something that is merely a bunch of vowels and consonants floating in the air, yeah, you feel boycotted. Do I feel boycotted now? No, not at all. But I don’t feel boycotted by Hollywood because I don’t think about it. I don’t have much further need for Hollywood myself.”

Continuing on, the 59-year-old, who only spoke in somewhat of a murmur, went on to explain how he doesn’t want to be the one who always falls in line, lives a certain way, or becomes a certain person just because the person in front of them wishes so.

“It’s a very strange, funny time where everybody would love to be able to be themselves but they can’t.

They must fall in line with the person in front of them. If you want to live that life, I wish you the best. I’ll be on the other side somewhere.”

While most of us would relate and sympathize with what Johnny Depp said, it remains uncertain what the future plans of the Pirates of the Caribbean star are.

The Heard-Depp defamation case might have ended, by the controversies born from it seem to be on a neverending spiral.

With Jeanne du Barry marking his comeback to the big screen, the film has already been at the center of controversies.

Recently, over 100 actors signed an open letter to criticize the decision to allow Johnny Depp to attend the Cannes film festival.

Depp retorted by comparing the incident to being banned from Mcdonald’s.

Who are they? Why do they care? Some species or tower of mashed potatoes, covered in the light of a computer screen, anonymous, apparently with a lot of spare time.

I don’t think I’m the one who should be worried.”
