Fox News Host Dana Perino Loses It Over Gavin Newsom’s Social Media

In a surprising turn of events that has captured the attention of viewers and political analysts alike, Fox News host Dana Perino recently found herself in a heated meltdown over California Governor Gavin Newsom’s social media antics.

What started as a routine discussion on The Five quickly escalated into a fiery critique of Newsom’s deliberate mimicry of former President Donald Trump’s erratic online behavior.

As Newsom’s social media posts began to flood the platform known as X (formerly Twitter), Perino’s reaction was anything but subdued.

The governor’s posts, characterized by all-caps rants, self-aggrandizing compliments, and pointed insults directed at political opponents, have left many wondering if he is attempting to carve out a new niche in the political landscape — one that seems eerily reminiscent of Trump’s chaotic social media presence.

The Triggering Posts

In recent weeks, Newsom’s official press office has taken to social media with an aggressive and unapologetic style.

Using blocks of capital letters, the governor’s office has launched a barrage of tweets that echo Trump’s signature approach.

They’ve targeted various figures, including Outkick host Tomi Lahren and South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, with playful jabs and sharp memes.

Over the weekend, Newsom’s office engaged in a full-on social media rampage, labeling Lahren “woke” and dubbing Noem “Commander Cosplay.”

The posts have included parody memes featuring Kid Rock and JD Vance, showcasing a level of engagement that many have found both amusing and alarming.

Dana Perino’s Meltdown

On Monday’s episode of The Five, Dana Perino, who served as White House press secretary under George W. Bush, expressed her outrage over Newsom’s antics.

With a visibly triggered demeanor, she proclaimed that Newsom was “making a fool of himself” and even called for his wife to intervene.

“You have to stop it with the Twitter thing,” Perino exclaimed.

“I don’t know where his wife is? If I were his wife, I would say, ‘You are making a fool of yourself, stop it!’”

Perino’s comments reflected a growing concern among some political commentators about the implications of such behavior.

She continued, hinting at rumors of Newsom’s potential presidential aspirations, “Do not let your staff tweet — and if you are doing it yourself, put the phone away and start over.

He’s got a big job as governor of California, but if he wants an even bigger job, he has to be a little more serious.”

Newsom’s Response

In a move that only added fuel to the fire, Newsom’s office wasted no time in responding to Perino’s remarks.

They reposted footage of her complaints on X, captioning it, “ALMOST A WEEK IN AND THEY STILL DON’T GET IT.”

This cheeky retort underscored Newsom’s intent to engage in the political fray and challenge the norms of traditional political discourse.

His office has also targeted several prominent MAGA figures, including Casey DeSantis and Kristi Noem, further solidifying his position as a provocateur in the political arena.

When Noem blamed the California DMV for issuing a license to a driver involved in a tragic incident in Florida, Newsom clapped back on X, stating, “Hey, Commander Cosplay: the federal government (YOU) already confirmed that this guy meets federal and state immigration requirements — YOU issued him a work permit (EAD).

Oops. As usual, you are either lying or clueless.”

The Social Media Experiment

In interviews, Newsom has explained that his social media strategy is a deliberate experiment.

He stated that he is “just following” the brash and unpresidential social media example set by Trump.

Over the past week, his posts have included everything from calling out JD Vance’s eyeliner usage to demanding the release of the Epstein files, all while borrowing Trump’s signature sign-off: “Thank you for attention to this matter!” followed by his initials.

Newsom articulated his perspective on the normalization of Trump’s social media behavior, saying, “If you have issues with what I’m putting out, you sure as hell should have concerns with what he’s putting out as president.”

He expressed satisfaction that his Twitter parodies had “gotten some attention,” but he also raised a critical question: “How have we allowed the normalization of his tweets, Truth Social posts over the course of the last many years, to go without similar scrutiny and notice?”

The All-Caps Rant

One of the most notable moments from Newsom’s recent social media activity came during President Biden’s summit in Alaska.

In a dramatic all-caps rant, he criticized Trump, stating, “TRUMP JUST FLED THE PODIUM WITH PUTIN — NO QUESTIONS, NOTHING! TOTAL LOW ENERGY.

THE MAN LOOKED LIKE HE’D JUST EATEN 3 BUCKETS OF KFC WITH VLAD.

IS HE AFRAID THE PRESS WILL ASK ABOUT ME??? (AMERICA’S FAVORITE GOVERNOR).”

The post concluded with a bold declaration: “ENJOY YOUR FLIGHT HOME, DONALD — YOU’RE PUTIN’S PROBLEM NOW.

I’M AMERICA’S SOLUTION. — GCN”

Backlash from the Right

Newsom’s social media antics have not gone unnoticed by conservative commentators.

Tomi Lahren, a prominent Fox News personality, responded to Newsom’s posts by criticizing his attempts to “troll” Trump.
