Harrison Ford Criticizes Donald Trump’s Climate Policies Despite His Own Jet Use
Harrison Ford has once again criticized Donald Trump regarding his approach to climate policy, even as he himself owns a private jet that contributes to carbon emissions.
In a recent interview with The Guardian, the 83-year-old actor, known for his role in Indiana Jones, expressed deep concern over Trump’s actions regarding climate change, stating they “scare the s**t out” of him.
Ford went on to label Trump as potentially the “greatest criminal in history,” emphasizing his belief that the former president is more focused on personal gain than on addressing environmental issues.

Trump’s Climate Policy and Ford’s Concerns
Ford, a committed environmental advocate, criticized Trump for lacking coherent policies, claiming he operates on whims rather than informed decisions.
He stated, “It scares the s**t out of me. The ignorance, the hubris, the lies, the perfidy. [Trump] knows better, but he’s an instrument of the status quo and he’s making money, hand over fist, while the world goes to hell in a handbasket.”
Trump’s history of skepticism regarding climate change is well-documented, having previously dismissed it as a hoax.
Since beginning his second term less than a year ago, Trump has taken significant steps to roll back environmental protections, including cutting funding for clean energy initiatives and putting over 1,000 employees at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on notice, many of whom were involved in climate change research.
Wind Turbines and Fossil Fuels
Ford also addressed Trump’s stance on renewable energy, particularly wind turbines.
He remarked that Trump seems opposed to them simply because he has not encountered a gold-plated version.
Moreover, Ford highlighted the president’s push for increased fossil fuel use and oil drilling, which he believes will have dire consequences for the environment.
In his comments, Ford described Trump’s legacy regarding climate change as a “clear expression of ignorance, of hubris and purposeful subterfuge.”
Despite Trump’s efforts, Ford remains hopeful about the future, noting that the world is gradually shifting towards cleaner energy sources, albeit slowly.

The Need for Change
Ford expressed confidence in humanity’s ability to combat climate change, asserting that with the right political will and intellectual investment, significant progress can be made.
He stated, “We are incredibly adaptive, we are incredibly inventive. If we concentrate on a problem, we can fix it most times.”
Before taking office again, Trump had promised to dismantle numerous environmental regulations, branding them as wasteful expenditures.
On his first day back in office, he announced plans to withdraw from the Paris climate agreement, reversing a decision made by President Biden.
Just two months ago, during his address to the United Nations General Assembly, Trump referred to climate change as “the greatest con job in the world,” criticizing nations for pursuing net-zero emissions goals.
Ford’s Environmental Advocacy
Ford’s remarks came just before he received the E.O. Wilson Legacy Award for Transformative Conservation Leadership in Chicago.
While he is a passionate advocate for environmental causes, Ford’s own travel habits have drawn scrutiny.
Reports indicate that he has made multiple trips on his private jet, which emitted approximately 35 metric tons of carbon dioxide in a short span, significantly more than the average American’s emissions over two years.
This contradiction has raised eyebrows, with critics pointing out that his environmental advocacy is somewhat undermined by his choice of travel.

Previous Criticisms of Trump
Ford has a history of vocal criticism towards Trump.
In 2020, during an appearance on The Jimmy Kimmel Show, he referred to Trump as a “son of a b****” and has consistently spoken out about the dangers of climate change.
In a 2017 interview, he stated, “We face an unprecedented moment in this country. Today’s greatest threat is not climate change, not pollution, not flood or fire. It’s that we’ve got people in charge of important s**t who don’t believe in science.”
Last year, Ford was among the celebrities who endorsed Kamala Harris for president in her campaign against Trump.
Conclusion: A Complex Landscape
Harrison Ford’s criticisms of Donald Trump’s climate policies highlight a significant tension between advocacy and personal choices.
While Ford passionately argues for environmental responsibility, his use of a private jet presents a complex narrative.
As the climate crisis continues to escalate, the dialogue surrounding leadership and accountability in environmental policy remains crucial.
Ford’s outspoken nature and commitment to conservation serve as a reminder of the ongoing need for effective action against climate change, emphasizing the importance of aligning personal actions with public advocacy.
As the world grapples with these issues, figures like Ford play a pivotal role in shaping public discourse and encouraging meaningful change.
