From Critique to Congratulations: Donald Trump’s Surprising Blessing for Taylor Swift’s Engagement!

The entertainment world was abuzz recently with the news of Taylor Swift’s engagement to NFL star Travis Kelce after two years of dating.

The couple made their announcement on August 26, and it quickly became one of the most talked-about stories in American showbiz.

Among those offering their best wishes to the happy couple was none other than former President Donald Trump.

During a Cabinet meeting just hours after the announcement, Trump told reporters, “I wish them luck. I think he (Travis) is a great player, a great guy. I think she (Taylor) is outstanding. So, I wish them luck.”

This conciliatory tone from Trump was unexpected, given his history of public criticism towards Swift.

Just weeks earlier, in early August, he had made disparaging comments about her while praising actress Sydney Sweeney for her support of the Republican Party.

He linked his disdain for Swift to her perceived “woke” persona, stating, “Look at singer Taylor Swift – who is also woke.

Since I warned the world about her by saying I can’t stand her (hate), she got booed at the Super Bowl and is no longer ‘hot.’

The trend is changing seriously – being woke is for losers, and joining the Republican Party is what you should aspire to.”

Trump’s previous remarks about Swift included a pointed comment on May 16, when he said, “Has anyone noticed that since I said, ‘I hate Taylor Swift,’ she’s not popular anymore?” His disdain for the pop star also dates back to her announcement of support for Kamala Harris in the upcoming election and her endorsement of former President Joe Biden during the 2020 campaign.

However, Trump is not the only politician to comment on the engagement of the pop superstar born in 1989.

Senator Mike Lee (R-Utah) made a pun on Swift’s hit song “Blank Space” by tweeting, “She has a blank space and she’s going to take his name.”

Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas) used the news to mock his opponent in the Senate primary, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, whose wife filed for divorce in July.

Cornyn quipped, “Congratulations to Taylor and Travis. May your marriage never end as per the Bible.”

Meanwhile, Representative Marcy Kaptur (D-Ohio) began her speech on social security by congratulating Swift and Kelce to draw attention to her message.

As for the engagement itself, while Taylor Swift announced the exciting news on August 26, sources revealed to Page Six that the proposal actually took place weeks earlier.

The exact date of the proposal remains unclear, but it is evident that the couple kept the news under wraps for some time.

Insiders told Daily Mail that Travis Kelce planned the proposal entirely on his own and had been preparing for it for quite some time.

“He wanted everything to be completely traditional.

He chose the ring and proposed to her.

Based on what he told me, she also wanted everything to happen traditionally.

She wanted him to take the lead,” the insider shared.

Travis collaborated with Kindred Lubeck of Arifex Fine Jewellery to design a diamond engagement ring, estimated to cost around $1 million.

Friends of the couple were reportedly not surprised by the news, as Travis had often stated that Taylor was the one he wanted to marry since the early days of their relationship.

For a while, friends jokingly referred to Travis as “Mr.Taylor Swift,” and the athlete embraced the nickname.

In keeping with traditional customs, the 36-year-old athlete sought the blessing of Taylor’s parents before proposing.
