Conservative activist Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was shot and killed while speaking at Utah Valley University (UVU), sending shockwaves across the American political landscape and reigniting concerns over political violence.

The shooting occurred shortly after 12:20 p.m.

local time during Kirk’s appearance on the American Comeback Tour, organized by Turning Point USA.

Kirk, 31, was addressing an outdoor crowd of roughly 3,000 attendees when gunfire rang out.

According to law enforcement, the shots were fired from a building approximately 180 to 200 yards away from the stage.

Emergency responders rushed Kirk to Timpanogos Regional Hospital, where he underwent surgery for a gunshot wound to the neck.

Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead later the same day.

Police initially detained a “person of interest” but released them after determining they were not the shooter.

The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities combing through surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses.
