In a rural area of Chaco province in northern Argentina, a cylindrical object approximately 1.7 meters long was found. The object, which fell into a field in the town of Puerto Tirol, was covered with black feather-like fibers on its surface. Police, who arrived at the scene following a report from farmer Ramón Ricardo González, cordoned off the area.

Chaco Police Chief Fernando Romero stated that the object is made of carbon fiber and is “very toxic.” Romero indicated that it contains hydrazine, which is used as rocket fuel. Teams in protective clothing intervened and also identified a serial number on the object.

EXPERTS: IT COULD BE A SPACE TANK

Ruben Lianza, Director of the Argentine Air and Space Research Center (CIAE), stated that the fallen object is most likely a “composite overwrapped pressure vessel” (COPV). Lianza warned the public that such objects could release toxic dust if touched. It is known that NASA also uses similar tanks in propulsion systems, experiments, and life support units.

SUSPICION OF A CHINESE ROCKET

Official authorities have not yet confirmed that the capsule is space debris. However, according to local media reports, the area where the object fell is located under the known flight path of the Chinese-made Jielong 3 rocket. Authorities have requested caution against possible debris in the area and announced that expert teams will be deployed to safely remove the tank.
