Sydney Sweeney has revealed how she contemplated ending her A-List acting career in order to pursue boxing after playing Christy Martin on screen.

The glamorous actress had to transform to play boxing icon Martin in a film being released this week, and learned the sport for months before filming. And after falling in love with the sweet science, she considered fighting for real.
Sweeney is one of Hollywood’s most beloved starlets, and widely considered one of the most beautiful women in the world. And she has admitted that she is still keen to put her skills to use for one fight, ideally on a charity event.
Sydney Sweeney claims she would like to fight for real after film role
In order to become Christy Martin, Sydney Sweeney underwent something resembling a real life fight camp. She gave up her glamorous Hollywood lifestyle to embody one of the sport’s most intriguing characters, and admits she has fallen in love with fighting.
“For about two and a half months, I would weight train in the morning for an hour, box three hours in the middle of the day, and then another hour of weight training at night,” Sweeney told Sportscasting.com. “I put on 35lb and it was hard.
“I started losing weight once I upped my boxing time and had to find that balance, just continually pounding more and more protein shakes.”
And at one point, she questioned if she would be willing to fight for real – an ambition she still harbours. “There was a moment in the middle of filming where I was like, ‘Should I give it all up and fight because I love this?’” she continued.
“Christy said she’d sign me up. So, this isn’t as hypothetical as you actually think it is. Yeah, I’d totally do a charity bout, that’d be so sick.”

Sydney Sweeney insists she can ‘take a punch’ as Christy Martin eyes up promoting boxing debut
It appears that the wheels have been put in motion for Sweeney to seriously begin fighting, although she remained coy as to who she might take on in what would be a charity exhibition.
“I think what would get me through a fight is that I can take a punch,” she explained. “I wouldn’t quit… Who would I fight? It’s a surprise. You’ll have to wait. I’m serious. You’ve got to stay tuned for the pay-per-view and you’ll see it.”
While Martin claims to have some names in the hat as potential opponents, Sweeney admitted that she has yet to be approached by any promoters. Instead, she has simply been messaged by fighters.
She joked: “Nobody’s offered to get me into the ring. I have gotten some interesting DMs from some boxers though.”
