Pacquiao made his boxing comeback in 2025, challenging for the WBC welterweight title against Mario Barrios at the age of 46.

The Filipino legend showed that he has plenty left in the tank during that clash in July, and he has since been linked to a whole host of other high-profile bouts.

One that is never too far from the surface would see Pacquiao follow in his rival Floyd Mayweather’s footsteps by welcoming UFC star Conor McGregor into the ring.

The pair have gone back and forth over a potential fight for years, but while ‘PacMan’ is open to that crossover match, he does not hold the same view when it comes to another leading MMA star.

Manny Pacquiao would fight trash-talking Conor McGregor but not ‘humble’ Khabib Nurmagomedov

Pacquiao poured cold water on the McGregor fight in his most recent update earlier this year, but the topic continues to follow him in the sport.

He was once again presented with questions regarding the fight during an interview for IBA Boxing, and the Filipino still would not rule out the long-discussed matchup.

“Oh yeah, that’s possible also, with Conor McGregor,” Pacquiao said.

When asked who he would choose to box between McGregor and the retired Khabib Nurmagomedov, the Filipino legend picked the Irishman owing to his infamous trash talk.

“McGregor,” he answered. “Too much (talking). I want to shut his mouth up.

“(Nurmagomedov) is a nice guy, a nice person. Humble and an inspiration. A good role model for sports,” Pacquiao added.

Fortunately, it’s clear that Nurmagomedov would hold no interest in such a fight anyway, having repeatedly turned away any talk of a combat sports comeback in any form.

Manny Pacquiao in talks for Floyd Mayweather rematch on Netflix

For now, it seems as though ‘PacMan’ will have his sights set on a man that both he and McGregor have crossed paths with.

Talk of Pacquiao vs. Mayweather 2 has picked up this year, with recent reports suggesting that Netflix is pushing for the fight to take place in 2026.

The potential second chapter in their rivalry over a decade on from the ‘Fight of the Century’ has split opinion, largely owing to how the first bout played out.

While the event was a financial success, going down as the highest-grossing pay-per-view in boxing history, the fight itself fell well short of expectations.
