🧊🚛 “Todd Dewey Trapped on the Ice at –40°F — What Happened Next Left Even the Toughest Truckers Speechless… ❄️👁️”
The winter roads of Canada’s far North are no place for hesitation.
Every mile is a battle against nature, fatigue, and machinery pushed to the limit.
In the latest episode of Ice Road Truckers Season 12, the chilling reality of that battle came crashing down on veteran driver Todd Dewey, who found himself stranded and questioning whether it was worth coming back at all.
The episode, which aired October 8, opened with Todd’s rig frozen solid in the middle of nowhere.
The brakes on his truck had completely locked up after his air lines tore in the subzero cold.

With the temperature plunging below –40°F and no help in sight, Todd was forced to bunk in his cab overnight, wrapped in his coat and the faint warmth of a dying engine.
“You don’t sleep,” he said over the CB radio.
“You just sit there and think about everything that could go wrong.”
For Todd, a seasoned hauler who’s spent over a decade on these deadly routes, the ice road is as much psychological as it is physical.
Hours of isolation on frozen lakes leave drivers wrestling with exhaustion and doubt.
“When your rig stops working out here, it’s not just inconvenient — it’s life or death,” Todd admitted.
“I started thinking maybe this was a sign I shouldn’t have come back.”
Adding to his misery, Todd sliced his finger while trying to repair the lines.
But in true Ice Road Truckers fashion, he refused to give up.
Using what he called some “serious MacGyvering,” he patched the damage just enough to limp his truck the 650-mile journey back to Muskie Creek headquarters.
His perseverance set the tone for a season that promises more grit, danger, and raw survival than ever before.
Meanwhile, across the icy expanse near Garden Hill, fan-favorite Lisa Kelly faced her own crisis.
Tasked with hauling a school bus for repairs — a nostalgic load for the former school bus driver — Lisa had the chance to double her pay if she could make the 800-mile round trip before the deadline.
But just a few hours in, her truck’s heating system failed.
In temperatures where frostbite can set in within minutes, that’s a disaster.
Lisa’s breath fogged the inside of her windshield until she could barely see the road.
“No heat, no visibility — not a great combo,” she muttered, her voice steady but her eyes showing the strain.
Ever resourceful, she used a small torch to warm the windows and keep herself from freezing.
“The goal,” she said with a grim smile, “is to not die.”
When things went from bad to worse, Lisa called for backup.
Fellow trucker Scott “Scooter” Yuill, a friend and sometimes competitor, answered her radio call and met up with her.
After checking her truck, Scott offered his blunt assessment: “You’re f*cked.
” Despite the harsh truth, Lisa laughed — that gallows humor only a veteran of the ice could muster.
The two shared breakfast at a roadside diner, thawing out from the brutal cold.
Between bites, they made a $100 bet on who would rack up the most miles this season — a small spark of friendly rivalry amid the frozen chaos.
With her heating problem temporarily resolved, Lisa hit the road again, determined to prove why she’s still called the “Ice Queen.”
Scott had his own high-stakes challenge waiting.
Tasked with hauling a massive load to Red Sucker Lake, he faced narrow bridges, brutal terrain, and the haunting memory of a fellow driver who’d died on the same stretch two years earlier.
“I could feel him out there,” Scott said quietly.
“You just hope you’re doing him proud.”
His delivery didn’t come easy.
The machinery nearly slid off his trailer during offload, but Scott managed to keep control.
Before heading back, he left behind tobacco as a sign of gratitude — a humble gesture honoring both the land and its people.
Elsewhere, the Harris family trio — father Shaun and his sons Riley (21) and Zach (31) — took on one of their most daunting missions yet: delivering an excavator 600 miles to Stony Rapids.
It was Riley and Zach’s first big test as a convoy team.
But before they could even leave the yard, disaster struck — a blown airbag on one of the trucks.
Shaun scoured for a replacement in subzero weather, determined not to let his boys down.
When they finally got moving, inexperience caught up fast.
Zach, the older of the two brothers, veered off course and got stuck on the road’s icy shoulder.
As he radioed for help, Riley backed his rig up to pull him free.
The moment was humbling — a quiet reminder that pride doesn’t keep you alive out here.
“Sometimes the ice teaches you respect,” Shaun later reflected.
“And it doesn’t care how old you are.”
As the episode closed, the camera panned across a frozen horizon — endless white broken only by the faint silhouette of a convoy crawling across the lake.
The voiceover reminded viewers why they keep watching after all these years: “Out here, the road takes everything you’ve got.
And sometimes, it still takes more.”
For Todd Dewey, the question now lingers — after so many seasons and close calls, is it time to finally hang up the keys? His fans aren’t so sure.
If history is any guide, Todd will patch it up, fire the engine, and chase the horizon again.
Because for the men and women of Ice Road Truckers, quitting isn’t an option.
