π βNot Just Football: Everything Buffalo Rookie Max Hairston Does When He Finally Gets a Day Off πβ¨β
Every NFL rookie learns quickly: there are no true βdays offβ in the league.
But for Max Hairston, Buffaloβs rising defensive back, an off day is less about escaping football and more about balancing the demands of his new reality.
Hairston starts early.
Even without a scheduled practice, he hits the team facility in the morning for recovery work β ice baths, stretching, and light training with the strength staff.
βThe NFL is about keeping your body right,β Hairston explains.
βIf you donβt, you fall behind fast.
From there, he dives into film study.
Hairston is still learning the intricacies of the Billsβ defensive schemes, and every snap matters.
Off days often mean hours in front of a laptop, rewinding plays, studying opponents, and texting notes to position coaches.

βThe mental game is just as important as the physical,β he says.
But football isnβt his entire day.
Hairston makes time for Buffalo life, too.
That means embracing the cityβs food scene, and yes β indulging in wings.
βYou canβt play here and not eat wings,β he laughs.
βItβs basically part of the job description.
Fans have already spotted him at local spots, where heβs known to keep things low-key β no entourage, just a plate of food and a quiet vibe.
βIβm still getting used to people recognizing me,β he admits.
In between, Hairston leans on his gaming hobby to unwind.

Call of Duty and Madden are his go-tos, and he often streams casually for friends back home.
βItβs how I stay connected to people I donβt get to see much anymore,β he says.
He also carves out time to call family, especially his mom, who has become his biggest source of encouragement since draft night.
βShe always reminds me this is bigger than football,β Hairston shares.
Even his social media activity reflects his rookie journey β snapshots of recovery sessions, quiet dinners, and gratitude posts for Bills Mafia, the fanbase already embracing him.
By evening, Hairston turns back to discipline: meal prepping, stretching again, and an early bedtime.
βPeople think rookies live wild on off days,β he says.
βTruth is, weβre just trying to stay ready.
For Max Hairston, that readiness isnβt just about tackles and coverages.
Itβs about learning how to balance the grind of the NFL with a sense of normalcy.
His off days may not be glamorous, but they reveal a rookie who understands the moment β and knows the real work never really stops.
Because in Buffalo, where passion for football is unmatched, even off days are just part of the journey toward Sundays.
