Elon Musk faces backlash – 3 teens trapped in burning Cybertruck
What started as an exciting test drive ended in flames—and now, Elon Musk and Tesla are facing serious backlash after three teenagers were reportedly trapped inside a burning Cybertruck, sparking public outrage and renewed safety concerns over the futuristic vehicle.

The incident, which occurred just outside Los Angeles last weekend, has left many questioning the design of Tesla’s highly anticipated electric truck, with critics demanding answers and accountability.
According to witnesses at the scene, three high school students had borrowed a family member’s recently delivered Cybertruck for a short ride around the neighborhood.
What was meant to be a casual joyride quickly turned into a terrifying situation when the vehicle suddenly began emitting smoke from the rear.
Within minutes, the entire back section of the truck was engulfed in flames.
Video footage captured by bystanders shows thick black smoke pouring from the vehicle as the teens struggled to escape.
What alarmed both witnesses and first responders was the difficulty the occupants had in opening the vehicle’s futuristic doors.
The Cybertruck, which features electronically controlled latches and a minimalistic interior interface, reportedly became unresponsive as the fire spread.

The teens frantically tried to override the doors, banging on the windows and shouting for help, while onlookers rushed to assist.
Fortunately, quick-thinking neighbors used a hammer and a crowbar to break the windows and pull the teens out of the cabin just before the fire reached the front seats.
No one was seriously injured, though all three teens were treated at the scene for minor smoke inhalation and shock.
The Cybertruck, however, was completely destroyed.
Within hours, the story exploded on social media.
A video of the burning vehicle went viral, with hashtags like #CybertruckFire and #TeslaFail trending on Twitter and TikTok.
Parents, engineers, and Tesla critics began raising concerns over the vehicle’s safety systems, particularly its reliance on electronic functions that could fail in emergencies.
This isn’t the first time Tesla has faced scrutiny over its vehicle designs, especially in relation to door mechanics and emergency exit procedures.
Unlike traditional cars that have manual locks and mechanical handles, Tesla’s newer models rely on digital systems and touch-sensitive surfaces.

While this design approach has helped define the brand’s sleek, futuristic aesthetic, it has also sparked concerns about what happens when those systems fail—especially in situations involving fire, water, or electrical short circuits.
Elon Musk has not personally commented on the incident, but Tesla released a brief statement saying they are “aware of the event” and are “actively investigating the cause.
”
The company also emphasized that safety remains its “top priority” and that the Cybertruck “meets or exceeds all applicable safety standards.
”
Still, for many critics, the response was far from enough.
Consumer watchdog groups have already begun calling for a full safety audit of the Cybertruck, particularly its emergency egress mechanisms.
Some experts are even urging Tesla to issue an immediate software update or recall to address potential electronic door malfunctions in the event of power loss.
“Every second counts in a fire,” said one automotive safety analyst.
“If a door doesn’t open because a system fails, you don’t have a car—you have a death trap.
”
The timing of the incident couldn’t be worse for Tesla, as the company ramps up mass production of the Cybertruck and expands deliveries to customers across North America.
Originally announced in 2019, the Cybertruck was heavily marketed as a revolutionary leap in automotive engineering, blending electric innovation with sci-fi design.
With its stainless steel body, armored glass, and sharp geometric angles, the vehicle has become a symbol of Musk’s ambitious—and sometimes polarizing—vision of the future.
Despite high demand and months-long waiting lists, the Cybertruck has also faced criticism for its size, visibility challenges, and software complexity.
This latest fire incident may amplify those concerns, especially among parents and families worried about what could happen in a worst-case scenario.
Social media reactions have ranged from shock to fury.
Many users expressed sympathy for the teens while slamming Tesla for designing a car that, in their view, prioritizes aesthetics over safety.
Others questioned whether this incident might finally push regulators to take a harder look at the company’s practices.

“Elon Musk keeps pushing the envelope,” one viral post read, “but at what point does innovation become irresponsibility?”
Meanwhile, supporters of Tesla have urged the public not to jump to conclusions before the investigation is complete.
They argue that accidents can happen with any brand, and that it’s unfair to judge the entire Cybertruck program based on one incident.
Some noted that the vehicle was still new and likely in a testing phase, and that final versions might include additional safety redundancies.
Still, for the families of the teens involved, the incident is more than a debate—it’s a traumatic experience that could have ended in tragedy.
One parent, speaking anonymously to local media, said, “We were two minutes away from planning three funerals.
That truck turned into a coffin on wheels.
If those neighbors hadn’t acted fast, we’d be telling a very different story today.
”
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has acknowledged the incident and is reportedly in contact with Tesla to gather more information.
Depending on the findings, the agency could recommend new safety protocols or even mandate changes to future Cybertruck designs.
As of now, Tesla has not issued a recall, and deliveries continue across the U.S.
But the pressure is mounting—for answers, for transparency, and for assurances that innovation won’t come at the cost of human lives.
Elon Musk, once hailed as a genius disruptor, is now facing tough questions.
As the world watches closely, one thing is clear: no matter how futuristic a vehicle may be, its first responsibility must always be to keep its passengers safe.
