From Rainbow Hair to Life Behind Bars: The Shocking Fall of 6ix9ine – Who Knew Fame Could Be So Dangerous?

Bright rainbow hair, large face tattoos, flashy and flamboyant jewelry – with songs like “Gummo,” “Kiki,” and “Fifi,” Takashi 6ix9ine is arguably the most startling, bold, and brash rapper since 50 Cent.

However, Takashi’s shock value hasn’t been confined to music for entertainment purposes.

Offline, and outside of recording studios, an entirely different type of rap sheet – one without lyrics and filled with legal woes – has been growing in size for the now 22-year-old.

Born Daniel Hernandez in the streets of Brooklyn, New York, the six-figure concert fees may have come to a screeching halt for young 6ix9ine when, on November 18, 2018, just five days before the release of his album “Dummy Boy,” he was arrested.

Facing 10 plus years to life in prison, 6ix9ine was held in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center.

Contrary to what some might expect for a celebrity, he was not given special treatment.

Instead, he found himself in general population with inmates that the U.S. Justice Department describes as “extremely dangerous.”

6ix9ine was arrested on racketeering and weapons charges, with allegations that he and his associates were supposedly selling heroin, marijuana, fentanyl, and MDMA in New York.

But how did Takashi go from being one of the most talked-about rappers to facing hefty criminal charges that threaten to ruin his life?

The answers lie in a lengthy timeline of 6ix9ine’s legal problems.

In October 2015, before he became the rapper we know today, he pleaded guilty to the use of a child in a sexual performance.

This incident dates back to February 2015, involving 6ix9ine, several men, and a 13-year-old girl who was filmed naked in a Harlem apartment.

At the time, 6ix9ine was just 18 years old and was seen in videos making thrusting motions and slapping the girl on her buttocks while she engaged in oral sexual intercourse with another man.

Additional videos featured the girl sitting naked on 6ix9ine’s lap, while others showed a man pouring liquid on her breasts.

These explicit videos were uploaded to Instagram on 6ix9ine’s account, which he later claimed he did “for my image.”

He also told police he was unaware of the girl’s age, stating that when she came in, she asked how old he was, and he assumed she was older based on her questioning.

During a November 2017 interview with DJ Akademiks, Takashi addressed the underage girl videos, insisting,

“I’m not touching the girl. I’m not having sexual intercourse with the girl. I’m not doing nothing. She’s just nude in some type of way. I didn’t rape nobody.”

His sentencing was postponed initially for two years due to a plea deal, which ended up extending to three years because of 6ix9ine’s request for more time to complete his GED.

Along with finishing his GED, 6ix9ine was required to perform 300 hours of community service, avoid posting sexually explicit or violent images on social media, write a letter of apology to the underage girl and her family, and not commit any crimes for the next two years.

However, District Attorneys argued that 6ix9ine had violated the terms by failing to write the letter and committing additional crimes.

January 2018 marked a turning point in 6ix9ine’s life.

Not only did he follow up his hit “Gummo” with his first full mixtape “Day 69,” but it also became a time when his legal troubles began to pile up.

On January 6, 2018, he was involved in an alleged conflict with a 16-year-old boy named Santiago Imran at a mall in Houston, Texas.

The police report stated that the young man attempted to film 6ix9ine, who allegedly responded by choking him and causing minor injuries.

In July 2018, he was arrested at JFK Airport in Queens, New York, due to an outstanding warrant related to the Houston incident.

In October of the same year, Santiago appeared in court, requesting that 6ix9ine not be prosecuted, even posing for a photo with him.

But the drama didn’t stop there.

On April 19, 2018, a young woman named Martha Gold claimed to have had sexual contact with 6ix9ine when she was just 17 years old.

Despite claiming to inform him of her age, she decided not to press charges, stating, “I’m not trying to put him in jail or anything, but he has to learn to stay in his lane.”

6ix9ine’s legal troubles continued to escalate, with his manager being investigated for connections to shootings and 6ix9ine himself facing multiple misdemeanors.

By May 2018, 6ix9ine was involved in a confrontation with police officers, leading to more charges.

Before summer officially began, he was investigated for a shooting involving rapper Chief Keef, and by October, he was in court for three separate incidents on the same day.

Even after avoiding jail time for the 2015 sexual misconduct case, a shooting erupted at a post-sentencing dinner, resulting in injuries to one of his bodyguards.

As if things couldn’t get any worse, on November 19, 2018, 6ix9ine was arrested on federal charges of racketeering and firearms.

The charges stemmed from armed robbery, conspiracy to commit murder, drug trafficking, and organized gang activity linked to the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods.

6ix9ine wasn’t alone in his legal troubles; several of his associates were also taken into custody.

The arrest was a joint effort involving the NYPD, Homeland Security, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.

Facing an eight-count indictment that could lead to a life sentence, 6ix9ine was held without bail.

During his arraignment, it was revealed that there might be a hit on his life from former associates he claimed to have cut ties with.

As predictions from hip-hop elders like Fat Joe and Charlamagne tha God echoed in the background, the reality of 6ix9ine’s life became a stark reminder of how quickly fame can turn into infamy.

This rollercoaster ride of a career serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of living a life intertwined with crime and betrayal.

As we reflect on the shocking fall of 6ix9ine, one can’t help but wonder: could this have all been avoided, or was it simply a matter of time before the consequences caught up with him?
