Angelina Jolie Wants to Play Her Most Profitable Role Again and It’s Not Her Mentally Unstable Marvel Character From Eternals
Angelina Jolie revealed that she would love to play this Disney villain again, so is Maleficent 3 happening anytime soon?.
Angelina Jolie’s devilish beauty stole the show in Disney’s Maleficent, which was a fresh spin on the classic Sleeping Beauty tale.
Making her debut in 2014 as the Disney villain, Jolie turned the iconic horned baddie into a complex and irresistible antihero.

She yet again returned for round two in Maleficent: Mistress of Evil in 2019, with wickedly good charm.
More recently, she revealed that she might be ready to put on that evil smile once again.
Angelina Jolie “Would Love To” Be Maleficent Again!
People have long held preconceived notions about Disney villains, about being old, ugly, and one-dimensionally evil.
Maleficent was no exception to this stereotype, until Angelina Jolie stepped into the role for the live-action adaptation.
Jolie’s portrayal didn’t just shatter those notions, it completely redefined them.
Suddenly, a Disney villain wasn’t not only just breathtakingly beautiful, but also layered, vulnerable, and fiercely captivating.
Jolie brought a fresh, complex take to the character, and audiences absolutely loved it.

In a recent chat with Deadline about her new film Maria, Jolie reflected on a pattern she’s noticed throughout her career, and that is a tendency to play characters who are mentally unbalanced or emotionally fractured.
During the conversation, and that is where she also hinted that she might be ready to bring Maleficent back to the screen for another round.
She said,
Somebody said, ‘every character you’ve played for almost a decade now has been a bit traumatized, right? Even your Marvel character has PTSD.’ Maleficent was going through a lot too, like worrying about her child, people judging her, and struggling in bouts, but no, she’s always Maleficent.
So, she’s maybe the least traumatized.
I’d love to play her again.
People are absolutely thrilled at the prospect, and only time will tell if Maleficent will make her grand return!
Is Maleficent 3 Happening?!
It’s easy to assume that any actor’s highest-grossing movie would be their MCU debut, but the case isn’t so straightforward for Angelina Jolie.
While she did star in Marvel’s Eternals, we all know how that one fared.
Instead, it’s her role as Disney’s Maleficent that holds the top spot.
Disney’s first Maleficent movie, where Jolie brought the iconic villain to life, raked in an impressive $758.4 million globally in 2014 (via Box Office Mojo).
Its sequel, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, added another $491.7 million worldwide five years later (via Box Office Mojo).

Naturally, fans are buzzing with questions, will there be another Maleficent sequel? With Angelina Jolie herself expressing interest in returning to the role, it only makes sense for Disney to greenlight a third film, especially when the franchise has raked in so much cash.
According to WSJ Magazine, the much-anticipated Maleficent 3 was confirmed to be in the works, signaling Jolie’s return as the iconic dark fairy.
However, since that exciting announcement, news on the project has been suspiciously quiet, leaving fans confused.
Until Disney officially breaks the silence, fans will have to keep their fingers crossed for more of Maleficent’s wickedly magical adventures.
Both Maleficent and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil are available on Apple TV for rent.
