Apple Studios has hit the fast lane with Brad Pitt’s F1: The Movie, delivering one of their biggest hits ever.

The movie, packed with thrilling car chases, high-speed drama, and Pitt’s star power, witnessed unprecedented success, which has now sparked the topic of a sequel.

And it seems, the answer is positive.

Variety reported that Apple Studios is already considering bringing back the adrenaline-fueled action for another round.

According to a June discussion, it was revealed that gears are turning on a potential F1 sequel, as per knowledgeable sources.

Further, co-head of Apple Worldwide Video, Zack Van Amburg, mentioned via Variety,

We have a couple thousand hours of originals and over 300 titles that you can engage with.

We have more returning series that we’ve ever had.

We have sequels to movies that were big successes for us.

So we’ve never felt better.

And now, on a recent note, DiscussingFilm mentioned that Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, has confirmed that a sequel is “definitely something” being discussed.

With Apple already planning multiple original projects and sequels for their hit films, fans of F1 may not have to wait long to see more high-speed thrills and drama on the big screen.

Brad Pitt as Sonny Hayes Marked His Highest Grossing Blockbuster After Deadpool 2

While Hollywood is currently capitalising on sequels and spinoffs, Brad Pitt’s F1 remains a major source of income for Apple, after the 2025 movie became his highest-grossing blockbuster as a lead actor.

As per Box Office Mojo, the movie earned over $623.2M worldwide, surpassing his previous hit, World War Z (2013), which made $540M.

So now, F1, with a mix of fast cars, thrilling races, and Pitt’s star power, drew audiences around the globe, cementing its status as a major box office draw. But, even though F1 set a new record for Brad Pitt, his fleeting cameo appearance in Deadpool 2 still holds his all-time highest box office collection at an approximate $734.5M worldwide.

However, while Deadpool 2 made more money overall, F1 remains Brad Pitt’s biggest solo success. Other top-grossing films of Pitt as a lead include Troy ($497 million), Mr. & Mrs. Smith ($487 million), and Ocean’s Eleven ($450 million). But with F1 now in his portfolio, we’re excited to see if a sequel can push his box office records even higher.

What Can We Expect From a Potential F1 Sequel

Meanwhile, now that an F1 sequel is in talks, how will the story proceed, especially since the 2025 movie pretty well concluded Brad Pitt’s journey as Sonny Hayes?

Like, remember, F1 began with its focus on Sonny Hayes’ career as a talented race car driver who nearly met his end after a terrible crash? But then, the film marked his comeback as he became a freelance driver, racing across different circuits. By the end, Hayes felt he had conquered another personal challenge, leaving his story with a sense of closure.

Plus, his physical injuries and past hardships made it clear that Pitt’s Hayes return as the main driver would be difficult.

But in the meantime, the film also introduced Damson Idris’ Joshua Pearce, a young rookie who races alongside Hayes.

At first, Pearce struggled to respect Hayes’ experience and often clashed with him.

However, over time, he learned valuable lessons from Hayes and grew into a more humble and skilled driver.

So now, we believe, Idris’ character showed real potential for taking center stage in a sequel.

In our opinion, a possible sequel could focus on Pearce’s journey to F1 championship glory.

Because while Hayes’ story feels complete, Pearce has plenty to prove.

So, following his path could make the next movie exciting for fans.

Meanwhile, we’re not saying that Brad Pitt shouldn’t return.

His character can still make an appearance in a smaller role, mentoring Pearce or offering guidance at key moments.

Additionally, Hayes’ interactions with APXGP’s Chief Engineer, Kate McKenna, could continue in the sequel.

Their relationship could develop further, adding emotional depth to the story, while leaving room for fans to wonder what comes next.

This way, the sequel can balance fast-paced racing action with character growth and drama.
