Doja Cat is bringing the drama to the 2025 MTV VMAs.

On Sunday, Sept. 7, the “Say So” rapper, 29, arrived at the annual music awards show wearing a pastel minidress by Balmain with a plunging neckline. The structured dress featured a metallic pink detail down the front and across the bust. She accessorized with towering pastel yellow heels, Chopard jewels and a Judith Leiber Couture clutch in the shape of a lipstick. She rocked long blonde curls worn in a voluminous style.

The musician really made a statement, though, when she applied her bright red lipstick on the carpet for photographers before biting it off and chewing on it with a smile on her face, as seen in video captured by iHeartRadio.

She told Entertainment Tonight in a red carpet interview afterward that the lipstick was “delicious.”

Later in the show, Doja Cat made an outfit change (after opening the show with a sizzling performance) into a structured black minidress with a geometric neckline. The look also included matching arm accessories with a sharp point to add even more geometric flair. Doja capped off her outfit with black tights and metallic blue heels. She also swapped her wig out for a shorter blonde bob style with flipped-out ends.

Doja made her MTV VMAs debut in 2020 when she became the winner of the PUSH Best New Artist award, presented by Chime Banking.

For the big moment, she posed with her Moon Person wearing a hot pink, crystalized Versace mini dress from the Italian label’s SS20 collection.

The design featured a plunging V-neck design that stopped at her navel, a skirt decorated in fringe and floral appliqués placed throughout.

She wore matching fuchsia heels that perfectly picked up the multiple pink tones in the crystalized dress. The “Woman” artist coordinated her eye shadow with the color, and for hair, she sported a sleek, ultra long braided ponytail that nearly touched the ground.

Doja Cat returned for the following year, this time as the host of the 2021 MTV VMAS — during which she had several wardrobe changes.

Two of her most talked about looks of the evening included an out-of-this-world look by Thom Browne that appeared to be a colorful, textured pencil dress with mosaic prints and puffy sleeves.

The design also covered the top of her head, leaving her hair hidden. “Uh, I look like a worm … that’s dope,” she said of the outfit while onstage.

Her second eye-catching look of the night included a multi-purpose red chair that served as both a hat that she later used as a seat. In addition to the accessory, she paired it with a strapless, nude corset dress.

At the bottom was a white skirt of a different fabric with red horses. She teamed it with brown platform heels.

That year she also wore a black Vivienne Westwood number with fingerless gloves and sleek platinum blonde hair to make her grand stage entrance. Her nails were also changed for each look.

More recently, Doja Cat arrived at the 2023 MTV VMAs wearing a barely there, curve hugging custom design by Monse that mimicked a deconstructed cobweb.

Instead of flowing hair seen in her previous looks, the “Like That” rapper rocked a platinum blonde buzz cut this time around.

The 2025 MTV VMAs air live from New York’s UBS Arena on Sunday, Sept. 7 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and MTV. The ceremony will also stream on Paramount+.
