A post shared to Facebook claims that Tesla CEO Elon Musk is developing robots to carry babies throughout pregnancy.

Verdict: False
There is no evidence that Musk or Tesla is working on this technology.
Fact Check:
Social media users are claiming that one of Tesla’s newest ventures was a robot designed to carry a developing baby throughout nine months of pregnancy, in place of the child’s mother.
These claims appeared on Instagram and X , describing the claim as “breaking news.”
One post’s caption claims that the Tesla CEO “is currently working on a new version of robots that carry your baby for 9 months while you go about your work.”
It adds that the product would require only “sperm and eggs” from a couple, then it would “fertilize them and allow the baby to grow inside [it] for 9 months.” The post pointed to the possibility of pregnancy robots “reduc[ing] the number of women who d!e during delivery.”
However, none of the posts included any evidence or reliable sources supporting the statement, and there are no credible news reports to back the claim.
On Oct. 10, Tesla hosted a “We, Robot” event, where the billionaire entrepreneur unveiled his company’s plans to develop the “Cybercab” and “Robovan” vehicles, per NBC News . The technology projects are the latest advancements in the business’ high-tech products, some of which could be available to consumers by 2027.
“We, Robot” products do include a “Tesla bot” which, according to the company’s website, “helps you with daily tasks like completing house chores or running errands.”
Advertising for this product makes no mention of it helping with pregnancy, nor was this idea proposed during Tesla’s unveiling event earlier this month.
USA Today noted that the circulating images and claim comes from an Oct. 18 TikTok video that suggests the possibility of robots carrying babies in artificial wombs.
The outlet also pointed out that this source does not link the concept of pregnancy robots to Musk or Tesla. (RELATED: FACT CHECK: Did Tesla Announce A New Motorhome Project?)
Check Your Fact’s TrueMedia analysis indicates “substantial evidence of manipulation” in the main photo of the robot carrying a baby in its artificial womb.
A Hive Moderation analysis run by Lead Stories also shows that images related to the claim were almost 100% “likely to contain AI-generated or deepfake content.”
