Offset Reveals Drake’s Generosity: No Fees, Equal Splits, and Unwavering Support—Is This the Ultimate Rapper Friendship?
In the ever-evolving landscape of hip-hop, collaborations often define an artist’s career.
Offset, one-third of the influential Atlanta trio Migos, recently took the opportunity to shine a light on his relationship with none other than Drake, the Canadian rap superstar.
During a candid appearance on the Full Send Podcast on August 22, Offset shared his admiration for Drake, emphasizing that the 6 God has always been supportive of Migos without ever asking for a dime in return for features.
“That’s my dog, I f—k with Drake,” Offset stated emphatically. “Always showed love. Always pulled up to the video shoots, all that s–t. Don’t make a hassle, don’t be charging nothing.”
Offset’s comments come on the heels of the release of his solo album, KIARI, which showcases his evolution as an artist and features collaborations with notable names like YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Key Glock, Gunna, JID, Ty Dolla $ign, and Teezo Touchdown.
The history between Drake and Migos dates back to 2013 when Drake hopped on the remix of their breakout hit “Versace.”
Since then, the two acts have collaborated on several tracks, including the infectious “Walk It, Talk It” and “Having Our Way.”
Additionally, Offset and Drake teamed up on Metro Boomin’s hit “No Complaints,” further solidifying their musical camaraderie.
Offset elaborated on the business side of their collaborations, revealing that Drake has always ensured fairness when it comes to publishing rights.
He explained, “Even when we was little n—as, a lot of artists his size would bully the record like, ‘I’ma do it, but I want all of the publishing.’ He didn’t do none of that s—t. Equal splits.”
This level of respect and fairness is not often seen in the competitive world of hip-hop, where many artists seek to maximize their profits at the expense of their collaborators.
Drake’s supportive nature extends beyond just the studio.
In 2018, he brought Migos along for the Aubrey & the Three Migos Tour, allowing the trio to showcase their talents to a broader audience while sharing the stage with one of the biggest names in music.
This gesture not only highlights Drake’s commitment to uplifting his peers but also reinforces the bond between the two acts.
As Offset continues to carve out his own path with his solo work, his relationship with Drake serves as a reminder of the importance of collaboration and mutual respect in the music industry.
In a time when artists often feel pressure to compete against one another, the camaraderie displayed by Offset and Drake sets a positive example for future generations of musicians.
Offset’s KIARI album marks a significant step in his career, showcasing his versatility and ability to stand on his own while still honoring the friendships and collaborations that have helped shape his journey.
As fans eagerly listen to his new project, they can appreciate the deeper connections that exist behind the scenes in the world of hip-hop.
With Offset’s revelations about Drake’s generosity and support, it’s clear that their friendship goes beyond mere business transactions; it’s a testament to the power of loyalty and collaboration in an industry that can often be cutthroat.
As both artists continue to thrive, fans can only hope for more collaborations that reflect the genuine bond they share, proving that in hip-hop, sometimes it’s not just about the music—it’s about the relationships built along the way.
