Morgan Wallen speaks out in first interview after abruptly walking off SNL stage during credits
Country music singer Morgan Wallen sparked controversy following his recent SNL appearance
Morgan Wallen has spoken out for the first time since his Saturday Night Live controversy.
Last Saturday (March 29), Wallen was the musical guest on SNL for the second time in his career, with his debut on the show being back in 2020.
The country music star performed two songs: ‘I’m The Problem’ and ‘Just In Case’.
It wasn’t Wallen’s singing that got people talking though, it was his abrupt exit from the show.
Usually as the credits are rolling, the SNL cast, guest, and host wave at the camera, chat, hug each other and so on — but it seemed that Wallen had places to be and he simply walked off once Mikey Madison finished her closing monologue.
While he said goodbye to the Oscar-winning actress, Wallen failed to acknowledge the rest of the cast and made his way off the stage.
After his swift exit, Wallen took to his Instagram Story and shared a picture of a airport runway with the caption ‘get me to God’s country’.
Other than that, the singer’s largely remained schtum amid the backlash he’s been facing, but has now released his first interview as part of a recent Last Weekend podcast episode.
In it, Wallen chatted to host Theo Von about the downsides of being famous.
“There’s parts of that that I don’t like,” he mused. “I think anybody who has to deal with that… it’s not ideal.”
Wallen went on: “It’s not ideal to go everywhere, and even if you don’t get bothered, you were on edge the whole time because you thought you might [be bothered].

“There’s things that you just don’t do. There’s just things you don’t do anymore.”
With his fame and the downsides to in mind, the country star said he prefers to spend his spare time hunting with friends.
He shared: “I can go be with my buddies. I can be in the middle of nowhere. I can be at ease. I can not stress out. You just find ways to supplement it, I think, you know?”
While Wallen didn’t speak about SNL, he did briefly address last year’s incident where he threw a chair off the roof of a bar in Nashville and ended up being arrested for reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.
“I ain’t been in a bar since the last time I was in a bar that everybody knows about,” he told Von.
